Demonstrations Highlight the Power of Contactless Technology for Ubiquitous ID Deployments and Loyalty Program Aggregation

AIX-EN-PROVENCE, France, April 14, 2010 – Highlighting its continuing commitment to the Asia Pacific region, INSIDE Contactless, a leading provider of advanced, open-standard contactless chip technologies, today announced it will be exhibiting at Cards Asia 2010 in Booth 4J09 in the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre, April 21 to 23. This year, INSIDE will feature two demonstrations: a flexible, cost-effective mobile solution for verifying driver licenses, voting cards, residence permits, healthcare cards and a variety of other electronic identity documents; and a convenient and affordable way for mobile phone stickers to replace plastic loyalty and membership cards from a variety of retail merchants.

INSIDE will be demonstrating its standards-based ICAO-lite cards and how they can be easily read by an ICAO-compliant NFC commercial phone. The e-ID product is based on INSIDE’s MicroPass® contactless application platform, and INSIDE will explain how its ICAO-based approach combines the robustness and knowledge gained from ICAO workflows with the versatility of the smart card industry and its ability to manage secure transactions and information to extend the utility and benefits of ICAO beyond e-Passports.

“With its unique combination of a standards-based approach and powerful tools for development, INSIDE believes its ICAO-based electronic ID offering will prove to be the best solution for many of the identification issues facing a variety of governmental and private organizations today,” said Lim Boon Heong, INSIDE’s general manager for the Asia Pacific region. “The demonstration we are presenting in our booth just scratches the surface of the possibilities this approach enables, including multi-application documents, and we look forward to discussing all the benefits with attendees at the show.”

INSIDE also will be demonstrating the Taggo service, which uses ID stickers based on INSIDE’s PicoPass® 2KS contactless memory chip and contactless readers based on INSIDE’s M210-2G proximity coupler. Customers attach a small PicoPass-based Taggo sticker to their mobile phone and join programs through a simple SMS text message, or by browsing the my-Taggo website ( All the enrollment details are automatically sent to the retailer as if the customer had filled out an enrollment form. Customers tap their phones at the point of sale to enjoy the same benefits as presenting a plastic loyalty card.

Taggo will demonstrate a loyalty and CRM solution provided by Memberson, a Taggo VAR and a leading provider of loyalty programs in Asia.

Attendees also will be able to obtain information on all of INSIDE’s NFC and contactless payment products – including its market-leading MicroPass and MicroRead products – and discuss their needs with company representatives.

INSIDE’s third-generation MicroRead chip, which was introduced on February 6, 2008, provides the broadest range of near field communication (NFC) options that enable numerous new contactless applications. Already in use by major handset makers, the MicroRead suite combines third-generation silicon, a full set of interfaces, NFC software libraries and APIs, a field-proven reference design and robust standards support into a turnkey contactless reader solution.

The MicroPass intelligent payment platform is designed to power open standard contactless and dual-interface bank card payments along with other value-added applications in all global regions. Based upon a RISC architecture and optimized to the demanding requirements of contactless transactions, each of the MicroPass family of products is designed to meet the demands of issuer organizations in the bank card payments, transit, ID and access control markets.

Now in its 15th year, Cards Asia, an annual conference and exhibition on smart cards and identification solutions, is Asia’s largest smart card marketplace.
