Alex Brabers
Chairman of the Board

Alex Brabers

Alex Brabers is GIMV's Executive Vice President for Venture Capital and is responsible for the Belgian firm's investments in the fields of IT and communications. With more than fifteen years of experience in the venture capital industry, Alex brings invaluable knowledge of growth capital financing to INSIGHT. He has been involved in the sales or initial public offerings of numerous companies. Alex is a director of Telenet (Euronext Brussels symbol: TNET) and Language & Computing. He also previously sat on the board of Option International, Barconet, Telos, Emme and Mobistar. Prior to signing on with GIMV in 1990, he worked in banking, initially as a trader in international money market instruments, then as a strategic planner. Alex has a Master's degree in economics from Louvain University.

Jean Schmitt

Jean is managing director of Joltech Capital, a trust corporation in private equity specialising in the investment of capital of SME/ETI European technologies. Before setting up Joltech Capital Jean Schmitt spent 10 years with Sofinnova Parners as associate where he led the investment team in the IT sector. Jean Schmitt is the founder of SLP Infoware, one of the world leaders in predictive management software for customer relations in the telecommunications sector (P-CRM), which he sold to Gemplus in 2000. At that time he was President-CEO of SLP Infoware and also Vice President of Telecom Solutions and Applications at Gemplus. Schmitt created and sold three other companies before founding SLP Infoware. JS is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Accent (LUX), Inside Secure (FR) and AuthenTec (USA, NASAQ: AUTH)

Jean Schmitt is a graduate from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST) and holds a post-graduate diploma in Artificial Intelligence. Since 2005 he has held the position of Senior Lecturer at Paris Telecom.

Patrick Jones

Patrick Jones

Patrick Jones is currently Chairman of the boards of both Lattice Semiconductor (Nasdaq symbol: LSCC), a company that specializes in ' fabless ' (where fabrication is outsourced) semiconductors, and Epocrates Inc. (Nasdaq symbol: EPOC), a provider of mobile solutions and services to healthcare professionals. He also sits on the respective boards of Novell Inc. (Nasdaq symbol: NOVL), a business software packages leader, of Openwave Systems (Nasdaq symbol: OPWV), a provider of software solutions for mobile broadband operators, and of Mobiwire (France; formerly Sagem Wireless), a designer of personalized mobile terminals and telephone devices. In addition, he previously sat on the boards of many high-tech firms financed by venture capital investors. From 1998 to 2001, Patrick was Senior Vice President and CFO of Gemplus SA (since integrated into Gemalto), smart card market leader; he successfully oversaw the initial public offering of the company on the New York and Paris stock exchanges. He had previously occupied the posts of Vice President for Finance and Corporate Controller at Intel, and CFO at LSI Logic, a manufacturer of specialized semiconductors. He began his career as an engineer at IBM, before working for Singer Company in Thailand, France and Singapore. He has an MBA in finance from Saint Louis University (United States) and is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign (also United States).

Ronald Black

Ronald D.Black

Ronald Black has been CEO of MobiWire (France; formerly Sagem Wireless) since October 2010. He is also a director of AuthenTec (NASDAQ symbol: AUTH). He was previously CEO of UPEK (which merged with AuthenTec) and before that CEO of Wavecom, a French wireless solutions provider listed on the Euronext Paris securities market. Ronald has held several senior executive roles within other companies as well. Specifically, he was Executive Vice President of the client systems group at Agere Systems, Vice President and General Manager of next-generation networks at Gemplus (now Gemalto), and General Manager of communications systems for the semiconductor product sector at Motorola (now Freescale). He also occupied a number of senior management posts in IBM Microelectronics' Power PC Micro-processors group, as well as in its Development and Electronic Packaging Applications groups. He has a Master's degree in science and a PhD in engineering and materials science from Cornell University in New York.

Glenn Collinson

Glenn Collinson

The co-founder of Cambridge Silicon Radio Plc. (LSE symbol: CSR), Glenn Collinson oversaw the development of CSR from its formation in 1998 to its listing as a public company in 2004, first as Marketing Director and then as Sales Director. Since stepping down from the CSR board in 2007, his time has been taken up with directorships at Neul Ltd., a mobile wireless data services provider, at DiBcom SA, a ' fabless ' (where fabrication is outsourced) company that designs chipsets for cell phones and portable TVs, at Solar Press Ltd, a company focused on the development of organic photovoltaic modules, and at Wolfson Microelectronics plc. (LSE symbol: WLF), a London Stock Exchange-listed supplier of analog and mixed-signal chips for general consumer and professional applications. Other posts Glenn has held include director of Sonaptic Ltd, from April 2005 to July 2007, when it was sold to Wolfson, and director of Microemissive Displays Group plc., from April to November of 2008. Prior to founding CSR, he was Senior Engineer and Marketing Manager at Cambridge Consultants Ltd (1996-1998), and Design Engineer and Marketing Manager at Texas Instruments (1989-1996). He is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and holds a Bachelor of science in physics and a Master of science in electronics from Durham University, as well as an MBA from Cranfield University.

Thierry Sommelet

Thierry Sommelet

Before joining FSI in 2009 an an Investment Director, Thierry Sommelet was Head of Investments in the ' développement numérique des territoires ' ('Regional Digital Development') service of Caisse des Dépôts, where he was responsible for investments in the digital sector. Thierry's career began in the financial markets with Crédit Commercial de France (now HSBC), in Paris and New York, where he was in charge of risk management. In 1996, he joined Renaissance Software (now Infinity), a supplier of software to financial institutions, managing its London-based European financial engineering team. From 2000 to 2001, he took charge of development and Internet strategy at media company InfosCE. He then moved to Caisse des dépôts in 2002. Thierry Sommelet sits on the boards of the following companies: TDF, 3S Photonics, Mäder and Sipartech. He is a graduate of the ENPC civil engineering school in Paris and earned an MBA from Insead, the international business school.

Lee Kheng Nam

Lee Kheng Nam

Lee Kheng Nam is Chairman of Vertex Venture Holdings and has been a venture partner at American firm GGV Capital since 2004. During the twenty years preceding his joining GGV Capital, he was President of Vertex Management, an international venture capital company headquartered in Singapore. He is a director of various private and public entities, including Creative Technology, Heptagon and BCD Semiconductor Manufacturing. He has also been a director of several other telecommunications companies, such as Centillium Communications, Chartered Semiconductor, GRIC Communications, Gemplus International, ActivCard, United Test and Assembly Center, and SMIC. From his base in Singapore, he provides general assistance to GGV Capital in regard to the semiconductor sector in China. Lee Kheng Nam possesses a degree in mechanical engineering from Queen’s University in Canada, and was awarded a Master of Science in operational research and systems analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California (United States).
